BGS sheet 298 places Salisbury on Chalk and at the confluence of river valleys, with alluvium and terrace deposits interrupting the bedrock pattern. Harnham, Bishopdown and riverside gardens therefore need different questions.
Urban fill, retaining work, old foundations and drainage create further plot-level variation. We select the foundation from the actual building and footprint rather than a city-wide geology label.
