What the foundation needs to do

An air source heat pump is not simply placed wherever a small slab will fit. The outdoor unit needs the clearances, vibration control, fixing arrangement and condensate route stated by its manufacturer and system designer.

JustBases installs the agreed ground base ready for the MCS or competent heat-pump installer, without moving responsibility for the refrigerant, electrical or commissioning work.

Options, assessed properly

Suitable foundation methods

The methods below are possibilities to assess—not interchangeable specifications. We match the foundation to the product, loads, support points, ground and access.

Concrete

Concrete foundation

A compact concrete pad gives a firm ground-mounted platform and can receive the installer-approved anti-vibration feet or frame.

Often worth considering for: Permanent ground units beside houses and plant areas

Paving slabs

Paving-slab base

A purpose-prepared heavy slab or proprietary base may suit some units when the heat-pump supplier accepts it and the sub-base is sound.

Often worth considering for: Smaller domestic units with an approved mounting system

Ground screws

Ground screws and support frame

Ground screws may support an engineered equipment frame where the designer accepts the arrangement and clearances can be maintained.

Often worth considering for: Sloping ground or locations where a raised mount is advantageous

A written price for the approved detail

Specialist foundations are quoted from the actual product, support plan and site information. No VAT is added to the guide prices shown.

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities

The heat-pump designer should select the unit position with noise, airflow, pipe runs and permitted-development rules in mind before the foundation is installed.

We need the exact mounting footprint and condensate detail. Catalogue cabinet dimensions alone do not show the feet, frame or required clearances.

JustBases quotes the agreed foundation and groundwork. Product installation, specialist connections, commissioning and third-party design remain outside our scope unless the written quotation expressly includes them.
