What the foundation needs to do
A carport combines two foundation jobs: anchoring a tall open-sided structure and forming a surface that withstands repeated vehicle use. The post footings and hardstanding do not always need to be the same construction.
We work from the carport manufacturer's post and anchor plan, then coordinate the supports with a concrete or paved vehicle area where required.

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities
The carport roof, posts and parking surface should be designed together. Downpipes, drainage channels and any EV cable route are easier to resolve before the base is built.
New or enlarged hardstanding in a front garden can have drainage and planning implications. Permeable design or managed runoff may be required depending on the proposal.
