What the foundation needs to do

A cycle hub foundation often carries several systems: the shelter frame, door thresholds, Sheffield stands or racks, access control and sometimes a green roof. The slab must match all of them.

We work from the shelter and rack drawings to install the structural base, fixings and agreed duct routes with practical drainage and accessible approaches.

Options, assessed properly

Suitable foundation methods

The methods below are possibilities to assess—not interchangeable specifications. We match the foundation to the product, loads, support points, ground and access.

Concrete

Concrete foundation

A level reinforced or specified slab supports the shelter feet, doors and security anchors to their published installation details.

Often worth considering for: Enclosed hubs, public bike stores and open commercial shelters

Ground screws

Ground screws and support frame

Ground screws may support a proprietary lightweight timber or steel bike store, while stand anchorage and floor surfacing are resolved separately.

Often worth considering for: Selected private or relocatable shelters with an approved frame

A written price for the approved detail

Specialist foundations are quoted from the actual product, support plan and site information. No VAT is added to the guide prices shown.

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities

Obtain the complete GA and installation guide, including rack positions. A shelter outline alone does not show the structural concrete needed for security anchors.

Public and workplace schemes should coordinate accessibility, lighting, drainage and planning with the wider landscape design.

JustBases quotes the agreed foundation and groundwork. Product installation, specialist connections, commissioning and third-party design remain outside our scope unless the written quotation expressly includes them.

"Craig and his team were very professional throughout the job. They worked tirelessly and extremely hard. The job involved digging up a thick reinforced concrete base. Then creating a whole new base with precision engineering in preparation to accept a new building on top. The result was an excellent job all round."
