What the foundation needs to do

The word pagoda is used for several garden products, from a light open timber feature to a substantial roofed pavilion. The name alone is not enough to choose a foundation.

We start with the actual product drawing, post arrangement and intended floor. That allows us to quote for the right combination of structural footings and visible surface without confusing decorative paving with the load-bearing supports.

Options, assessed properly

Suitable foundation methods

The methods below are possibilities to assess—not interchangeable specifications. We match the foundation to the product, loads, support points, ground and access.

Concrete

Concrete foundation

Dedicated concrete footings or a shaped slab can support post anchors and a hard floor to the manufacturer's requirements.

Often worth considering for: Permanent roofed pagodas and complex multi-post plans

Ground screws

Ground screws and support frame

Screws can create accurate points for a compatible framed pagoda, with specification governed by wind exposure and the ground.

Often worth considering for: Timber pagodas over lawns or sloping garden areas

Paving slabs

Paving-slab base

A shaped or rectangular paved floor can be installed around structural supports to create a practical seating area.

Often worth considering for: Decorative garden pavilions where the visible floor is part of the design

A written price for the approved detail

Specialist foundations are quoted from the actual product, support plan and site information. No VAT is added to the guide prices shown.

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities

Send a photograph or product link if the supplier calls the structure a pagoda. It helps us distinguish a light arch-like frame from a fully roofed pavilion before advising on the base.

For unusual polygonal footprints, the final price follows the actual foundation plan rather than treating the widest dimensions as a simple rectangle.

JustBases quotes the agreed foundation and groundwork. Product installation, specialist connections, commissioning and third-party design remain outside our scope unless the written quotation expressly includes them.
