What the foundation needs to do

Open-sided gazebos can attract significant wind load even when the structure looks light. Their foundation should therefore be planned around both the walking surface and the manufacturer's post-fixing detail.

We install full-area bases, isolated post foundations and ground-screw support layouts to match the gazebo design. Services or paving around the posts can be coordinated before the structure is erected.

Options, assessed properly

Suitable foundation methods

The methods below are possibilities to assess—not interchangeable specifications. We match the foundation to the product, loads, support points, ground and access.

Concrete

Concrete foundation

A slab can provide both a finished floor and secure fixing zone, or individual concrete footings can be formed to the approved post detail.

Often worth considering for: Permanent roofed gazebos, metal base plates and integrated seating areas

From £695 for 8' × 6' (48 ft² / 4.46 m²)

Paving slabs

Paving-slab base

Paving creates an attractive floor, while structural posts may need separate foundations beneath or beside the finished surface.

Often worth considering for: Garden dining gazebos where appearance and a clean floor matter

From £620 for 9' × 5' (45 ft² / 4.18 m²)

Ground screws

Ground screws and support frame

Purpose-selected screws can carry a framed gazebo or defined post positions without a full concrete slab, subject to wind loads and compatible connections.

Often worth considering for: Sloping lawns and projects where the floor will be timber or composite decking

Installed screws from £1,180 for 8' × 6' (48 ft² / 4.46 m²); frame quoted separately

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities

A paving plan alone does not prove the gazebo is anchored. We need the frame drawing, post centres and fixing detail so the structural supports are set independently of decorative surfacing where necessary.

Permanent roofed or enclosed gazebos can raise planning questions based on their height and location. Side screens also increase wind loading and should be disclosed before the foundations are agreed.

JustBases quotes the agreed foundation and groundwork. Product installation, specialist connections, commissioning and third-party design remain outside our scope unless the written quotation expressly includes them.

"Craig and his team were very professional throughout the job. They worked tirelessly and extremely hard. The job involved digging up a thick reinforced concrete base. Then creating a whole new base with precision engineering in preparation to accept a new building on top. The result was an excellent job all round."
