Specialist base installation

Stable & Loose Box Foundations

Stable groundwork must carry the building, withstand hoof traffic and cleaning, and manage moisture without creating slippery or flooded boxes.

What the foundation needs to do

Stable slabs work hard: horses apply concentrated hoof loads, bedding retains moisture and washdown must be managed around thresholds and yards. Timber stable suppliers also commonly use a raised brick course beneath the walls.

We install the approved concrete base and wall support arrangement to the manufacturer's plan, coordinating box floors, front apron, drainage and tack-room transitions.

Options, assessed properly

Suitable foundation methods

The methods below are possibilities to assess—not interchangeable specifications. We match the foundation to the product, loads, support points, ground and access.

Concrete

Concrete foundation

A prepared concrete slab with the specified brick or plinth wall lines is the conventional foundation for permanent timber stables.

Often worth considering for: Static loose boxes, stable blocks and American-barn annexes

Ground screws

Ground screws and support frame

An engineered screw solution may support a proprietary lightweight stable or shelter when the supplier approves the floor and welfare arrangement.

Often worth considering for: Selected framed field structures, not as an automatic substitute for a stable slab

A written price for the approved detail

Specialist foundations are quoted from the actual product, support plan and site information. No VAT is added to the guide prices shown.

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities

Stable suppliers should issue the exact base and brickwork plan before construction. Nominal bay sizes do not show every partition and door return.

Planning permission is commonly relevant to permanent equestrian buildings and changes of land use. Resolve the whole proposal before installing a fixed base.

JustBases quotes the agreed foundation and groundwork. Product installation, specialist connections, commissioning and third-party design remain outside our scope unless the written quotation expressly includes them.

The raised wall line helps separate timber from wet floor conditions and lets the supplier level and fix the panels to its standard detail.
