Treehouse Support Foundations

Treehouse foundations must follow the designer's support scheme while respecting roots, changing loads and the movement of any living tree connections.

What the foundation needs to do

A treehouse may be carried by the tree, by independent posts, or by a hybrid of both. That makes its groundwork very different from a normal rectangular garden-building base.

JustBases can install the specified ground supports and concrete work for a design supplied by the treehouse builder or structural professional. We do not guess attachment loads or cut through roots to make a standard detail fit.

Options, assessed properly

Suitable foundation methods

The methods below are possibilities to assess—not interchangeable specifications. We match the foundation to the product, loads, support points, ground and access.

Ground screws

Ground screws and support frame

Engineered screws can sometimes support independent posts or a frame with less excavation than concrete. Suitability depends on roots, ground testing and the designer's connection detail.

Often worth considering for: Designed independent supports where root positions and loads allow

Concrete

Concrete foundation

Individual reinforced pads or post foundations may be specified where they can be excavated without unacceptable root damage.

Often worth considering for: Treehouse designs with engineered posts and defined footing reactions

A written price for the approved detail

Specialist foundations are quoted from the actual product, support plan and site information. No VAT is added to the guide prices shown.

Dimensions, approvals and responsibilities

Tree roots cannot be treated as an unseen nuisance. The designer may require an arboricultural assessment, and the final foundation positions should reflect the actual tree and root protection constraints.

Raised platforms can affect privacy and planning even in a domestic garden. Confirm the treehouse proposal, not just the foundations, before committing to the build.

JustBases quotes the agreed foundation and groundwork. Product installation, specialist connections, commissioning and third-party design remain outside our scope unless the written quotation expressly includes them.

"Craig and his team were very professional throughout the job. They worked tirelessly and extremely hard. The job involved digging up a thick reinforced concrete base. Then creating a whole new base with precision engineering in preparation to accept a new building on top. The result was an excellent job all round."

Treehouse Support Foundations FAQs

No. They can reduce the extent of excavation in some designs, but their positions still need to be checked against actual roots and the approved support plan.
